He was born in California in 1958. He focused on war photography and made several documentaries about the war on drugs in Colombia, the Gulf War, the wars in Afghanistan, and the clashes in Somalia, the former Yugoslavia and Chechnya among others. He photographed the presidency of George W. Bush for Time magazine. He has also photographed Mexican and Italian presidents. Recently, Morris photographed President Barack Obama in the White House. In 2006, he published a book with Steidl, titled ‘My America.’ He will have a new book by Steidl, ‘Americans’ coming out in 2012. A founding member of the VII Photo Agency, Morris has won many prestigious awards including the Robert Capa Gold Medal, the Olivier Rebbot Award, the World Press Photo of the Year and the Visa d’Or.
